Many people ask us about a couple songs they hear us perform live that they can’t find on a particular album/cd. “Long and Lonely Hours” & “Safe and Sound” are both downloadable at most streaming and digital music apps.
I wrote Long and Lonely Hours about my mother when she was hospitalized for a long period of time prior to her death and Safe and Sound is about sending our children out in the world with a blessing.
My heart is full of gratitude for the love that poured from my hometown people. Since Saturday night's concert at The Folly in Kansas City, John and I have been poring over the photos that were shared by so many of you who attended the "Folly Frolic" concert. We're usually so immersed in the preparations and actual performance of the show, that we miss some of the wonderful things going on around us.
I've since learned (through the photos sent to me) about how many of my Old Mission UMC family SHOWED UP! So many of them gleaming with pride because they know how closely connected we are. (Well over thirty years worth!) So much of who I am today is from the nurturing that I've received from you as spiritual mentors. Thank you for being there to witness the artistry of my band and how truly talented my husband is..... and why we sometimes miss church!!
To those of you who helped me find my musical identity in The Signboard Bar at the Westin Crown Center and The Duck Club at Crown Center, I hope you'll know how much I appreciate you for coming to this wonderful event and sharing your poignant stories of the past when we partied until one A.M. six nights-a-week.
